1. 汉(hàn)语(yǔ)拼(pīn)音(yīn)的(de)重(zhònɡ)要(yào)性(xìnɡ) / The Importance of Hanyu Pinyin

 In Chinese language education, Hanyu Pinyin is the common name to refer to the Romanized Chinese Phonetics system. Pinyin has become a tool for many foreigners to learn the Mandarin pronunciation. It is also often used to spell Chinese names in foreign publications and used as an input method to enter Chinese characters into computers and mobile phones.

2. 什(shén)么(me)是(shì)汉(hàn)语(yǔ)拼(pīn)音(yīn)? / What is Hanyu Pinyin?

“汉(hàn)语(yǔ)” means the language of 汉(hàn) and “拼(pīn)音(yīn)” means "spelled sound" (phonetics). Hanyu Pinyin is usually consists of a ‘声 母’(Consonant/ Initial), a ‘韵 母’ (Vowels/ Finals), and a ‘声调’ (Tone). For example:  

mɑ̄ mɑ̄---汉(hàn)语(yǔ)拼(pīn)音(yīn)

妈 妈̄---汉(hàn)字(zì)/ Chinese Character

‘m’---声(shēnɡ)母(mǔ) /Consonant or Initials  

‘a’---韵(yùn)母(mǔ)/ Vowels or Finals

‘-’---声(shēnɡ)调(diào)/Tones
